I turn raw current data, models and public registers into clear, technically robust reports prepared for Norwegian aquaculture requirements — so your next decision is based on what the water is actually doing.
Field sense.
Model brain.
I'm Alena Timoshina, an oceanographer with more than 8 years of applied oceanography, aquaculture advisory, current analysis and environmental modelling in Norway and abroad.
At Sea Eco AS I planned and delivered current studies for Norwegian fish farms, from measurement strategy to final report. Over my career that adds up to around 140 NS 9415 current reports, 60–70 hydrography reports and about 20 NewDEPOMOD assignments, based on more than 100 instrument deployments. I also prepare current data in Fiskeridirektoratet's FD format.
My master's focused on numerical modelling of coastal hydrodynamics. Since then I've added OSCAR oil-spill modelling and Delft3D FM training, and validated HYCOM and Copernicus/GLORYS against observations at UFES in Brazil. Today, through Timoshina Ocean ENK, I combine all of it with Python automation to deliver fast, consistent products.
Approximate figures for the whole career.
From raw file
to finished report.
Send your data
Raw instrument files, CSV, model output or just a locality number. I confirm the scope and can send you my price list before we start.
I check & analyse
Standardised Python workflows plus a trained oceanographer's eye: spikes, tilt, gaps, depths and anything that doesn't look like real water.
Your report surfaces
A clean, consistently formatted PDF, figure pack or dataset — ready for your application, your client or your farm manager.
Pick a product.
Watch it surface.
Twelve defined deliverables for farms, consultants and municipalities — each a repeatable production system, not a one-off. Tap any card and the deliverable rises from the waves.
More products — event analysis, model-vs-measurement comparison, register monitoring, environmental trend dashboards — are in development. Need one now? Ask, and we agree a scope.
Where should your
current meters go?
Indicative only: spreading current midway between net bottom and seabed (max. 50 m below net bottom); bottom current about 1 m above the seabed, following NS 9415:2021 and Fiskeridirektoratet's forundersøkelse guidance. Local topography can change the answer — let me check your site.
Your data.
My desk. Clear answers.
Six desk-based services for farms, consultancies and equipment suppliers. Your crew or field partner collects the data — I turn it into quality-checked results and reports.
Current reports from measured data
Raw instrument files in, finished NS 9415 current report out — QA/QC, analysis, interpretation and FD-format conversion, processed with my own methods and automated pipeline. Optional extras: traffic-light summary for management, fish-welfare colour matrix and comparison with open model results available historically for the location. For farms directly, or as report capacity for consultancies that do the fieldwork. Formal locality surveys remain the responsibility of the accredited inspection body.

Quality control of continuous current data
Many farms already log currents with sensors on cages or the feed barge — built for feeding decisions, not documentation. I check exports from common feed and sensor systems for tilt, fish and net interference, fouling, compass error and gaps, and send a monthly data-health sheet. On request: a 30-day report with placement and net-shielding assessment, showing whether the data can support NS 9415 documentation.

Regional current benchmarking
Years of measurements turned into a regional reference: I standardise your historical database, split it by depth and role, classify by percentiles and update it yearly — so a site can be described as “in the 80th percentile for the region”, not only by the standard's classes.

Modelling and ocean data
Particle transport and sedimentation with NewDEPOMOD — I set up, run and report the model under your company's licence. Plus analysis of Copernicus/GLORYS, HYCOM and satellite data: temperature, marine heatwaves and model-versus-measurement validation, useful where no measurements exist yet.

Survey desk support, maps and tools
CTD processing, station maps, and hydrography and current chapters for forundersøkelser and B/C reports — field sampling and accredited surveys are carried out by your accredited partner. Plus site maps for applications and hearings, and custom Python tools for consultancies.

Courses: read your current data
Practical training for site managers and staff: what your current sensors actually measure, how to spot bad data, and what the numbers mean for operations and fish welfare. On site, online, or together with your equipment supplier.
